“… the essential orientation you need for the endgame upon which we have embarked.”
“Washington and the Fed are in the process of putting he coup d’ grace on capitalism and sound money, so if you are to be prepared to protect yourself and your family, nothing could be more timely than this book.”
— David A. Stockman, President Reagan’s Budget Director

The Last Gold Rush…Ever! makes a powerful case that the US dollar and the global monetary system are headed for a world-changing crisis, describes the ways it will unfold, and explains why owning gold is a vital means of protecting yourself, your family, and your wealth.

If you had foreseen the financial confusion of the Carter years, or the exploding debt in the Bush years, or the Federal Reserve’s “money printing” spree during the Obama presidency, you might have profited richly from the resulting bull markets in gold and silver.

But today’s governmental recklessness dwarfs each of those episodes. Add other accelerants to the dollar and debt crises—including currency and trade wars, an unaffordable military empire, and a juggernaut of domestic state socialism—now converging to fuel an era of monetary destruction that will drive gold prices to unimaginable heights.

In this unique collaboration, two gold experts—New York Times bestselling author Charles Goyette, with years of commenting and writing about gold, the dollar, and the economy from outside the industry, and Bill Haynes, with decades of trade-by-trade, tick-by-tick experience inside the precious metals markets—triangulate their views to prepare readers for The Last Gold Rush…Ever!

苹果手机能用的vpm软件When better than election season to recall the words of a man who helped create the mystique of the modern American presidency. Theodore White wrote four book series The Making of the President covering the elections of 1960, 1964, 1968 and 1972.  He also propagated the Camelot myth of the Kennedy presidency.

But what did White really think of the political circuses and the Establishment? He wrote a friend in 1960:

“… it is all fraudulent, all of it, everywhere, up and down, East and West. The movies, radio and state and books and TV — all of them are fraudulent; and the foundations and universities and scholars, they are all fraudulent too; and the executives and the financiers … and the Commissars and the Krushchevs and the Mao Tze-tungs, they are fraudulent equally; it is all a great game; and there are two dangers in this great game: first, the fraudulent people come to believe their own lies, they come to have faith in their fraud; and second, underneath it all, because people are fundamentally good, they come to realize that we live in lies and the people get angrier and angrier and they may explode.

“The scenery of politics is ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous. Yet I must report all this as serious. This is the strain on me. That I must be serious, and I must exhaust myself trying to find out what is true and what is fraud and yet, even after I know, I must take them both seriously and write of them both as if I did not know the true distinctions between them.”

Greetings from Arizona Havana!

Much of the news here in Arizona is about Obamacare. And it is big news.  The Drudge Report today (11-1-16) features a Wall Street Journal story, Inside the Affordable Care Act’s Arizona Meltdown, that explains:

When Affordable Care Act insurance marketplaces launched in fall 2013, Arizona seemed like a success. Eight insurers competed to sign up consumers, offering a wide variety of plans and some of the lowest premiums in the country.

Today, with ACA enrollment starting Nov. 1, Arizonans will find in most counties only one insurer selling exchange plans for 2017. Premiums for some plans will be more than double this year, some of the biggest increases in the nation.

Six major health insurers are leaving the Arizona market in the new year.

“Do I live in Cuba?” he asked.

It’s too bad this had to happen, but fortunately there is an upside. You see, during the debate on Obamacare, the Republicans warned that this was inevitable in a State-run, Soviet-style health care system.  They warned of deteriorating service, fewer options, and higher prices.  Instead, they extolled the virtues of a free market in health care, one that would constantly improve service, increase options, and lower prices.  Just like it does with government-free elective medical procedures like vision correction and cosmetic surgeries.

Now they are able to say, “We tried to warn you,” and their clarity being rewarded, we can hurry past this destructive socialist detour and restore a free-market in health care.

Oh.

Wait a minute.

we-are-all-socialists-nowThat’s not what Republicans did during the national debate on Obamacare. With the legislation before Congress in 2010, the Republicans were reduced to accepting the statist presuppositions of government interventionism. Instead of standing firm, they wobbled about on their spindly little legs, as the Republican National Committee ran TV ads calling for a “responsible plan” and a “bipartisan plan.” With only the occasional exception like Ron Paul, Republicans were incapable of articulating an argument against accelerating American healthcare’s Soviet-style trajectory.

And one more thing. The Supreme Court.  First, there was Chief Justice John Roberts, the “conservative” who tipped the balance in favor of Obamacare at the Court. And in voting to uphold Obamacare, Justice Ruth Ginsburg argued that the law should be upheld under the Commerce Clause. And she thought to remind us along the way of Mitt Romney’s role in fathering this hideous creature.

So how do you like living in Cuba?

Call me cynical if you wish — it is a cynicism born of our long, shared experience with the state — but I’m always surprised to find a public official with an abundance of wisdom.

Here is one: Charles Freeman, the former U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia.  In the introduction to an interview of Freeman in The Nation, we learn that he is the man Andrew Bacevich believes should be Secretary of State.  In fact the title of the piece is “Meet the Man Who Should Be the Next Secretary of State.”

The entire piece is worth reading, but let me share a couple of snippets:

ON BOMBING ISIS:

Our bombing campaign unwittingly validates the Islamist narrative of Western antipathy to assertive Islam and indifference to Muslim suffering and death. As we have seen, it invites reprisal by bombing our homeland and the homelands of others conducting it. So it feeds terrorism and recruits young men and women to the ranks of those seeking revenge against the United States. Military action, including bombing, may succeed in denying territory to Islamists. But, the issue for the security of the United States is not the Islamists’ control of territory but attacks on the countries they see as victimizing them by their followers abroad, including our own….

ON POST-CONSTITUTIONAL AMERICA:

Part of my pessimism derives from the excessive militarization of US foreign policy. Other elements of it derive from my sense that the political elite in this country has come up with a formula to enrich itself at the expense of everyone else.

We have a system which worked very well for a couple of centuries that has been subverted and gone off the rails. This is post–constitutional America. The separation of powers does not work; it is abused by both the legislature and the executive, and I would say the judiciary as well. Accountability is at a minimum in any one of these spheres. Our politics is more venal than ever.

ON THE INVISIBLE GOVERNMENT:

bernays7I think the permanent government, the bureaucracy, by and large, on many of the issues that have arisen, has been on the right side rather than the wrong side. There was no enthusiasm among the US military for the invasion of Iraq. Quite the contrary. There was great skepticism in the intelligence community about the justification for that. In fact, the vice president and the deputy secretary of defense, Mr. Wolfowitz, set up an elaborate structure of alternative, politicized intelligence fabrication to justify it. So whatever the problem is, it’s not, so far as I can see, professional civil servants, whether they’re professional military, professional foreign service, professional intelligence officers, and so on.

ON HILLARY CLINTON:

Mrs. Clinton proposes to pursue a somewhat more militaristic version of the policies that have brought us where we are in the world. She would issue an even larger blank check to Israel, step up the effort to overthrow the Assad government, treat Russia as a military problem rather than a factor in the European balance to be managed, and try to keep China down in East Asia and internationally. …

But there is no evidence that she regards diplomacy as anything other than a supplement to the threat or use of force against foreign nations that do not subscribe to the American agenda. …

The thing about Clinton is that she does have a very extensive record on foreign policy which includes a long list of misjudgments that encourages very little confidence in her ability to judge correctly what is and is not feasible, or to ask the key question in foreign policy, which is always, “And then what?”

Freeman makes trenchant observations about Erdogan and Turkey in the discussion as well.

This is the first part of a fine interview by Patrick Lawrence. I’m looking forward to the next installment.

Leaked Clinton emails show U.S. allies Saudi Arabia and Qatar supported ISIS

October 11, 2016 – A recently leaked 2014 email from Hillary Clinton acknowledges, citing Western intelligence sources, that the U.S.-backed regimes in Saudi Arabia and Qatar have supported ISIS.

This adds to a growing body of evidence that theocratic Gulf monarchies have helped fuel the surge of extremist groups throughout the Middle East.

Running with Hillary?  Here’s what the lapdog press should be asking you.hillary-clinton-warmonger-3

Unless you think “What’s your favorite color?” is a hard question, you shouldn’t expect much from lapdog press interviews of Statist candidates.

In a vpm app column this morning (10/28/16), James Freeman, an editorial page editor, notes that getting candidates in races below Donald Trump on the Republican ticket to denounce him has become a regular sport in the media.  But he wonders why reporters “don’t force down-ballot Democrats to take a position on each new Clinton email revelation.”

That would be fine. Although there is nothing we didn’t suspect, thanks to WikiLeaks, we have more details than ever about Clinton venality and political corruption.

But there is a line of questioning that is even more important.

Why shouldn’t other candidates on the Democrat ticket be asked to endorse or disavow Hillary’s regime change wars in Libya and Syria?

Shouldn’t they be made to own the jihadist-generating carnage she champions? Wouldn’t it be wise to tie political supporters to her war trajectory with Russia as well, so that if she has her way the survivors will know who was to blame?

Those Russian Dastards!

The Empire’s warmongers have played the demonization of Putin really well. But there is a predictable methodology to the art of fomenting war and at some point advancing the confrontation means that everything about Russia – the people themselves and all they do – must become tarred as evil as well.

The New York Times has that propaganda campaign well underway.  In a piece called “NYT’s Absurd New Anti-Russian Propaganda,” Robert Parry cites a recent story in the newspaper of record about those sinister Russians “using inflatable decoys of military weapons to confuse adversaries.”  These “lethal tricks,” the paper advises, are “an increasingly critical element in the country’s geopolitical ambitions.”

极速vp下载ios

“If the dangers weren’t so great,” writes Parry, “The New York Times over-the-top denunciation of all things Russian would be almost funny.”

The Times illustrates the nefarious Russian activities with photos of the inflated MIG-31s and S-300 missile arrays. “More subtly,” it says, “their purpose is to clutter the enemy’s decision making, forcing commanders to waste precious time verifying whether a newly discovered target is real or just hot air.”

Oh, those dastardly Russians. 苹果手机能用的vpm软件Will they not stoop to anything?

Unlike the NYT’s story, Parry’s account of it in ConsortiumNews.com thoughtfully includes a photo of an inflatable Allied tank in World War II.

Americans haven’t figured it out yet, but the British have.  Here’s the lead from the story at Salon.com:

The Old Cold War is Over!  But the New One…

vpm appActually the old Cold War may be over, but the temperature is rising on the New Cold War.  Before we end up in a hot war of principals or proxies with Russia — which is certainly where we are headed — it would be good if the American people took a really good  look at what is going on in Russia today, a full generation after the long 70 years of Soviet madness.  The British foreign correspondent Peter Hitchens describes the unseen Russia of today and writes:

Nobody who has seen these things could possibly compare the old Soviet Union with the new Russia. The trouble is, almost nobody has seen them. Nor, it seems, has anyone noticed the withdrawal of Moscow’s power from 700,000 square miles of territory which it once held down with boots and tanks and secret policemen. Somehow or other this unprecedented peaceful withdrawal of a power undefeated in war is being portrayed as “expansionism.” Nobody who understands history, geography, or, come to that, arithmetic can possibly accept this portrayal. There is much to criticize in Russia’s foreign policy, especially if one is a Ukrainian nationalist, but the repossession of Crimea does not signal a revival of the Warsaw Pact.

This is a wonderfully insightful portrait of Russia today and stands in sharp contrast to the picture that is being painted by Washington.

Zimbabwe running out of US dollars; says it will print its own ‘bond notes’

Stashed in a drawer somewhere I have a 100 Trillion Zimbabwe Dollar bill.  It’s a novelty just like the 100 Thousand  and 100 Million Mark notes in there with it.  They are great conversation pieces for people who don’t know about Germany’s nightmare inflation of the 1920’s and the Zimbabwe inflation that peaked in 2008-9 at as much as 89.7 Sextillion Percent.

The real lesson of zimbabwe_100_trillion_2009_obversethese episodes is that governments and monetary systems must be completely separated.  The Zimbabwe inflation was such an embarrassment to other money-printing states that at one point Germany’s foreign minister even ordered the German company that provided Zimbabwe with the fine banknote stock for its legalized counterfeiting to stop deliveries. The Los Angeles Times marked the event with a headline that betrays the news media’s confusion about all things economic: “Lack of bank note paper threatens Zimbabwe economy.”

Since the currency crack-up Zimbabwe has mainly relied on U.S. dollar in its commerce.  But now its about to embark on its old ways again:

Zimbabwe announced Thursday it will introduce next month “bond notes” equivalent to the US dollar…

Zimbabwe has run out of US dollar notes in recent months and hopes to ease the cash crunch by printing its own “bond notes” that will be valued in denominations of $2, $5, $10 and $20.

“The bond notes will start to circulate by the end of October and will be at par with the US dollar,” Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe governor John Mangudya said in Harare.

zbiggyZbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter’s National Security Advisor, is the interventionist behind the Carter-Reagan policy that had the CIA arming the Afghan mujahedeen.  Osama bin Laden was a beneficiary of this genius scheme to provide billions in support for the movement the was the forerunner of al Qaeda.

Now it seem that Zbig has acauired a new and more realistic view of American global hegemony that he once had.  More details in a piece by Mike Whitney at Counterpunch.org:

The main architect of Washington’s plan to rule the world has abandoned the scheme and called for the forging of ties with Russia and China. While Zbigniew Brzezinski’s article in The American Interest titled “Towards a Global Realignment” has largely been ignored by the media, it shows that powerful members of the policymaking establishment no longer believe that Washington will prevail in its quest to extend US hegemony across the Middle East and Asia. Brzezinski has done an about-face and called for a dramatic revising of the strategy.

QUESTION: Do you think so?

MR TONER: Look, I don’t want to parse out this incident. I said very clearly that we don’t know all the facts yet, so for me to speak categorically about what happened is – frankly, would be irresponsible.

MR TONER: Again, I’m not going to give you our assessment at this point. We’re still gathering the facts.

QUESTION: In 2012, Syria shot down a Turkish plane that reportedly strayed into its territory. Prime Minister Erdogan then said, “A short-term border violation can never be a pretext for an attack.” Meanwhile, NATO has expressed its condemnation of Syria’s attack as well as strong support for Turkey. Do you see the inconsistency of NATO’s response on this?
